Kitesurfing in Petrol Beach Sardinia
La Maddalena Spiaggia has become famous, in the recent past, as perfect kite spot for kitesurfing Sardinia with the thermal wind. In fact at Petrol Beach, as the kitesurfers call La Maddalena Spiaggia, the thermal wind blows almost always in the warm and sunny days of Spring, Summer and Autumn. When the weather forecast does not predict wind and it is a sunny day, at Petrol beach the wind could blow up to 18-20 knots. Also the wind from South-East can blow well. Mistral is off-shore and gusty.
Close to Petrol Beach there are other kitesurfing beaches (e.g., Frutti d’Oro and Torre degli Ulivi) less crowded than Petrol Beach where the thermal wind can blow even better than in Petrol Beach.
Note that the name Petrol Beach should not be misleading: even if located between two oil&gas areas, La Maddalena Spiaggia has clean beach and clear blue water.
In the area of Petrol Beach, KiteGeneration gives kite lessons and kite courses when the conditions are suitable to teach kitesurfing.
