Best Kite Spot in Southern Sardinia

In the Southern Sardinia there are many Kite Spot for Kitesurfing, suitable for all levels. Anyway, the Best Kite Spot of Souther Sardinia are for sure 2: Punta Trettu and Cagliari.

Kitesurfing Punta Trettu

Punta Trettu, in the South West of Sardinia, has become one most famous kite spot of Europe. Punta Trettu is considered a Kitesurfing Paradise due to the still wild nature and to the perfect conditions for kitesurfing: shallow and flat water, constant wind. At the kite spot of Punta Trettu Kite Beach, the best wind are Mistral (north-west) and Sirocco (south-east). Kitesurfing at Punta Trettu Kite Beach is allowed all year round (kitesurfing is allowed in the kite zones only; pay attention also to the Police warnings and restrictions), also in the summer season.

In Punta Trettu, one the best kiteschool is the Punta Trettu Kite Center Sardinia, that has available also a Bar Cafè to enjoy great moments with other kiters.

Kitesurfing Cagliari

Cagliari is a great place for for sailing. To realize the sail potential of Cagliari, we can simply recall that, in the recent past, Cagliari has been home of the 2013 Hobie Cat16 European Championship, home of the 2014 Kiteboard Race World Championship for Masters and Young. In addition, Cagliari has been chosen by Luna Rossa Challenge for training the next America ‘s Cup.

In the area of Cagliari there are to Kite Spots: Poetto Beach and Petrol Beach. Poetto beach is the winter Kite Spot of Cagliariwith the wind from South-West to North-East. Petrol Beach, 20 minutes far from the city center, is the summer kite spot of Cagliari, perfect with the thermal wind.

Villasimius is one of the most beautiful Sardinia tourist destinations of Sardinia because of crystal waters, sandy beaches and the windy spots.

The main kite spots of Villasimius are Campulongu, Porto Giunco and Simius Playa. You can move from one to another spot (all spots all have a sandy bottom) depending on the wind direction.

During the summer season (from June to mid-September), due to the lack of kitesurf lanes and big number of bathers, for kitesurfing, it is required a boat support (Kitesurfing lift service).
